Everything You Need to Know

Frequently Asked Questions

Get answers to the most common questions about personal training at EW Motion Therapy.
What makes personal training at a physical therapy clinic different from a regular gym?

Training at EW Motion Therapy gives you access to clinical-grade equipment, specialized movement assessment tools, and the ability to collaborate with licensed physical therapists when needed. Our trainers work in a setting designed for both performance and rehabilitation, allowing seamless transitions between PT and fitness training.

What should I wear to my first personal training session?

Wear comfortable athletic clothing that allows a full range of motion, such as workout pants or shorts and a t-shirt. Bring supportive athletic shoes appropriate for exercise. We recommend bringing a water bottle and arriving 10 minutes early to complete any necessary paperwork.

How long does it take to see results from personal training?

Most clients notice improvements in strength, mobility, and confidence within 4-6 weeks of consistent training (2-3 sessions per week). Visible physical changes typically appear within 8-12 weeks. Your timeline depends on your starting point, goals, frequency of training, and nutrition habits.

Can I do personal training if I have an injury or chronic pain?

Yes, personal training at EW Motion Therapy is well-suited for individuals with injuries or chronic conditions. Our trainers have specialized knowledge in exercise modification and can collaborate with our physical therapy team to ensure your program supports your recovery and works safely with your limitations.

Am I too old to start personal training?

You are never too old to start personal training. We work with clients of all ages, including seniors in their 70s, 80s, and beyond. Our trainers specialize in adapting exercises for varying fitness levels and age-related considerations, with a focus on fall prevention, bone health, and functional independence.

What's included in the movement assessment?

The movement assessment includes a comprehensive evaluation of your movement patterns, strength, flexibility, balance, and any limitations or compensations. You'll experience hands-on interaction with our training equipment, receive a personalized training plan based on your goals, and get expert recommendations on the best program format for your needs.

Do you offer packages or memberships for personal training?

Yes, we offer package pricing for personal training sessions that provides better value than single-session rates. We also offer class packages for small-group training. Contact us to discuss package options that fit your training frequency and budget.

How often should I do personal training sessions per week? Most clients see optimal results with 2-3 personal training sessions per week, allowing adequate recovery time between sessions. Some clients start with 1 session per week, while competitive athletes may train 4-5 times weekly. Your trainer will recommend a frequency based on your goals, recovery capacity, and schedule.
Can personal training help with weight loss? Yes, personal training is highly effective for weight loss when combined with proper nutrition. Our trainers create programs that build muscle, increase metabolism, and burn calories efficiently. Accountability, expert guidance, and progressive programming help you achieve sustainable weight-loss results faster than exercising alone.
Do you work with people who have never exercised before? Absolutely. We specialize in working with beginners and people returning to exercise after years away. Our beginner classes are specifically designed for those new to training. Your trainer will start at your current level and progress at a pace that builds confidence without causing injury or burnout.
Do I need to be a physical therapy patient to do personal training?

No, you do not need to be a physical therapy patient to participate in personal training at EW Motion Therapy. Our training programs are open to anyone looking to improve their fitness, prevent injuries, or train smarter in a clinical environment.

What if I need to cancel or reschedule a session? We require 24-hour notice for cancellations or schedule changes. Cancellations made with less than 24-hour notice may be charged the full session fee. Life happens, and we understand emergencies occur. Your trainer will work with you on a case-by-case basis for unexpected situations.
